Welcome to the ICC 2026 Community Design Challenge!

What is the Community Design Challenge?​

The ICC Community Design Challenge was developed by the Inductive Automation training staff to test your skills and earn XP for your team while you are at the 2026 Ignition Community Conference in Sacramento, CA.

Come to the Co Lab room and talk with any of our Trainers and maybe you can scavenge up a great time.

How do I get started?​

Pick out a challenge from one of the Challenge pages here and start building! All the challenges require that Ignition is installed, so download and install Ignition 8.3. There's also a Gateway backup that you can access here that will be required for many of the challenges. It contains Tags and other resources that you'll find necessary to complete some of the prompts.

The login credentials for this Gateway are:

  • username: admin
  • password: password
Minimum Ignition Version

The Gateway backup with resources to complete these challenges is Ignition version 8.3.6.

How do I earn XP?​

When you complete a challenge, show your results to one of the IA Trainers in the Co Lab at the ICC (look for the black staff polo shirts). We'll mark you off for that challenge and your points will go towards your team's total.

Each day has three levels of challenges. Easy challenges are worth 5XP, medium are worth 10XP, and hard are worth 15XP.

XP can only be earned until Thursday at 3pm, so make sure to get checked off by then!

What team am I on, and are we winning?​

When you first sign in, you will be assigned to one of the three teams: Orange, Blue, or Green. All your points after that will go towards your team's total.

Check in at the Co Lab to see the team scores (and learn about some other cool stuff too!).

What challenges are available?​

We have three sets of challenges for you to work on. The Day 1 challenges page was released on day 1 of the conference (Tuesday 9/22). The Day 2 and Day 3 challenges will be released on Wednesday and Thursday, but all challenges will stay up until the ICC is over. That means you can see all the challenges on the final day. Check out the Navigation bar on the left or the links at the bottom of this page to see the challenges.

What version of Ignition should I be using?​

These challenges were designed in Ignition 8.3, so it's best to use the newest version of that. You can download the latest stable 8.3.9 here. Really anything 8.3.6 or newer will work since that's what we used to create our Gateway backup.

What if I'm not at the ICC this year?​

You can work on all of these challenges at home, but unfortunately you can only earn points for your team in-person at the ICC. Join us next year to compete!
