This study guide outlines what to expect while taking the Ignition Core Certification Test and offers a roadmap of resources to prepare yourself for this assessment.
Before proceeding it is important to note that this test is not a means of learning the Ignition software. The Core Certification Test is an assessment of your pre-existing competency and proficiency with Ignition, and allows you to demonstrate that you hold the knowledge and skills represented by a Core Certification.
Read all instructions thoroughly and carefully when taking the test.
📄️ Recommended Resources
The Certification Test is “open book”, meaning that publicly available Inductive Automation resources like the User Manual and Inductive University are allowed to be used during the test. Due to the timed nature of the test, your most useful resource will be your own previously acquired Ignition knowledge. While online resources are at your disposal, collaboration is prohibited while taking the test.
📄️ Practice Test Questions
These are examples of questions like those you will find on the test. This is a self-test, the correct answers are also provided here in this document. There are a varying number of questions in each topic. Read each question carefully and record your answer. For multiple choice questions, the website will use checkboxes to allow you to select the correct answer. This does not indicate more than one answer is always possible. For any question with multiple possible answers, the question will include the phrase "Select all that apply." At the end of each topic there is a dropdown element that says "Click to show this section's answers." You may use these to check your answers.
📄️ Test Interface
When taking the Ignition Core Certification Test a functioning webcam will be required, and you will also be required to share your screen. At the beginning of each section you will have the opportunity to adjust your camera settings and connections to verify that all is functional. Any issues in our accessing the video feed of your test session may result in your test being invalidated and require you to take the test again.
